You’re Missing this Oil in Your Natural Haircare Routine. No, it’s not Coconut Oil

There is an oil you've been missing in your natural haircare routine, and I'm not talking about coconut oil, although I still love that too.

It's from another plant, which your mom might have used for everything when you were growing up. It is, after all, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, a painkiller, an immune system stimulant and, you guessed it - a hair stimulant. Have you guessed yet? It's castor oil.

The Oil you Need in Your Natural Haircare

Castor oil (like coconut oil) is one of the most versatile (and affordable) oils I've come across in the beauty space, that not only has beatifying properties topically, but also internally. Today's post is going to focus on the topical usage, with a focus on natural haircare and preventing hair loss naturally (although Castor oil has natural antiviral and antimicrobial properties, making it a popular treatment for skin problems known as dermatosis and fungal infections).

Tropic Isle Living's castor beans are picked on their own farm in Jamaica. And what's so magic about this all-natural oil is that it is so rich in fatty acids, which work to promote the growth of hair, nails, eyebrows & eyelashes. A large percentage of castor oil contains Ricinoleic acid, one of the essential amino acids required by the human body. It's an Omega-9 fatty acid that can penetrate into the pores of the skin and the hair follicles.

Why Castor Oil is Effective

Jamaican Black Castor Oil is packed with Vitamin E and OMEGA Fatty Acids [Linoleic, Ricinoleic, Oleic, & Undecylenic Acid] which help to thicken & support hair growth, but also helps to detoxify the scalp and thus, can reduce hair loss - seriously natural haircare. Beyond the hair, it also reduces acne and fades dark spots, fades marks and scars, acts as a skin moisturizer (just rub it on as a body oil - their Rosemary and Castor oil blend is wonderful), as well as helps with nail growth and cuticle care. Talk about versatile.

How to use Castor Oil for Hair Loss

Here's how to use it to get you the best results when it comes to hair growth 1 - 2 times per week:

  1. Warm 3 Tbsp of the castor oil in the palm of your hand and massage into hair
  2. Put on heating cap for a half hour OR massage castor oil into hair
  3. Rest for 30 minutes (or sleep with it!)
  4. Wash with a gentle shampoo and conditioner
  5. Shine, baby!

Why it Can Help with Hair Loss

This is certainly one of the star products in Tropic Isle Living's line: their Strong Roots Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil, which acts as a hair growth stimulant (combining both castor oil and red pimento oil). It works to reduce hair loss & shedding and spilt ends by strengthening the hair follicle, increasing hair growth and promoting strong hair.

Jamaican Red Pimento Oil is extracted from the leaves of the pimento tree with a method called steamed distillation. Traditionally, it is used to heal muscular aches and pains as well as numb pains like tooth aches and stomach aches, the oil is high in antioxidants, which means that when applied, it will warm the body and the scalp to improve circulation thus bringing out the nutrients in your hair, speeding up the hair growth process, relieving your scalp of the unnecessary oils and toxins and slowing down the graying of hair. It also can act as a hair detox and scalp cleanser, since it removes fungus and treats dandruff, which can help with early onset hair loss as well.

Ok, that's my new update for you beauties.

You can find these super affordable products on Tropic Isle Living's site.

Enjoy this new affordable addition to your beauty arsenal.
