What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
I’ve spent most of my life in various relationships with food and my body, most of the time feeling rather destructive or controlling in nature. I came to a place where I was tired of all the approaches that I had been taking and felt that there had to be another way to have a healthy relationship with food and body. I felt that if I could find the way out of the fog and into the light with my food and body image challenges, then I would have to share my knowledge with others so they could heal as well. I knew I wasn’t the only person with these challenges around food and body, so I really had the desire to help women move through their challenges as well. That’s when I decided to become an Eating Psychology Coach.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
I love being an Eating Psychology Coach because the process has really helped me in my healing journey with food and body and I get to pay that forward. I am a learner and really enjoy passing on the gifts of my experience to others so they too can come to a place of peace around food and feel empowered in their relationships with food and body. One of the things that I love the most about being a coach is asking questions that a client may not think to ask of themselves and watching as they discover the answers that lie within. It is a beautiful process to observe as a client begins to trust themselves. The results show up in so many ways including a physical shape shift, a mindset shift, and an overall improved sense of wellbeing. I love watching women blossom more fully into themselves and stepping into a loving relationship with their mind, body, and soul.
What does your practice look like?
My client base is typically women in their late 20’s to mid 40’s who struggle with unwanted eating habits such as binge eating and overeating. Many of these women are also avid exercisers and try to follow rigid eating plans. I really enjoy working with these women as these behaviors are very personal to my own life experience, so I tend to specialize more in this realm. I currently offer phone, Skype, and some in-person sessions and provide clients with a fully supportive 12-session package to provide the tools necessary to begin a healthy and empowered relationship with food and body. I am also available for individual sessions as needed. I run a free Facebook support group, Creating Youphoria3: Food and Body Freedom, as well to offer continued support and to help those just starting on their journey of healing.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
My education with the Institute for the Psychology of Eating prepared me to help women dig deep and seek the truth behind their symptoms. I offer women the tools necessary to tap into their body’s intuition so that they can free themselves from high fact diets, unwanted eating behaviors, and find styles of exercise that feel right for their bodies. My training has provided me with the tools to listen to my clients, read between the lines, and find life themes that could be contributing to their challenges around food and body. The Training has given me the practical tools as well as the ability to tap into my intuition to help gently guide my clients through their challenges and help them create their unique strategy to provide long lasting change.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
My favorite parts of the Training included the live teleclasses with Marc, the online platform, the connection with classmates through the Facebook group, and the incredible staff support.
Having the opportunity to speak with Marc about key concepts, personal challenges, and client challenges is priceless. I prefer to go about educational materials at my own pace so the online platform was very helpful. The Facebook group was an amazing way to connect with fellow classmates from around the world and to get great staff support.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
Becoming an Eating Psychology Coach has breathed purpose back into my life. After feeling lost for a couple of years, I feel like I am making a difference in the world again which really helps elevate my professional life. Having a new focus has also created increased confidence and self esteem which is essential for being a professional in this world. Being a coach is creating more opportunities for me to have an impact on others which I believe in time will create more financial well being.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
Being an Eating Psychology Coach has impacted me personally in that I’ve had to do and continue to do the work on myself that I ask my clients to do. I have learned to listen to my symptoms and unwanted behaviors in a way that I never would have in the past. Being a coach keeps me accountable to my growth as a person so that I can show up for my clients. I have also regained a sense of purpose which was lost for a while and that greatly affected my home and personal life. Purpose through serving others has created so much pleasure and has lifted me from a low point in life.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
I see my future as an Eating Psychology coach involving an increased client base and having an impact on more women. I also see increased financial stability as I become a trusted source for women in the their healing journeys. I also see the possibility of a program as well as a retreat cohosted with one or two of my fellow coaches.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
I would recommend the Training to anyone who desires to deepen their own healing journey. I’d also recommend the Training to those who feel a calling to help others through their journeys with food and body. I believe that this Training has that certain something that you keep searching for in other nutritional programs. It will open your eyes to a whole new world of thinking that will finally help you move through your own challenges and help future clients move through theirs.
Anything else you’d like to share?
It is my sincerest hope that I am now part of a major paradigm shift in how we think about the body and how we treat the symptoms of both the mind and the body. It is also my wish that I can sincerely help those people who feel connected to my work so that my life experience and training does not go to waste. I feel that this profession really is the leverage that we need as a society to help move us toward a healthier, happier, and more loving relationship with self and the world.
